Lyrics

It's just another town another day,
And this is just another place to play.
And I didn't come here to stay,
I came here to get away.

It's so funny, so funny to me,
Cause everybody wants to be free,
Yet so many stand still like trees,
Put roots in the ground,
With their family all around,
Buy a house and a hound and settle down,
In their hometown.

My uncle once told me,
“Kid, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.”
If you know your history,
What he meant was my daddy was a lot like me.
And I wonder what he thinks of me,
If he's proud of who I chose to be.
If he regrets giving up his dreams,
To raise his family.

It's so funny so funny to me,
Cause I am like my daddy.
I'm strong and tall like a tree.
He put his roots in the ground,
With his family all around,
Built a house, bought a hound and settled down,
In his hometown.

So if you say that you gotta go,
My advice to you is go.
But I'll tell you as for me,
There ain't no place I'd rather be.

It's so funny so funny to me,
Cause I always thought I'd leave.
Yet here I stand like a tree,
I got my roots in th ground,
Got my family all around,
I'm thinking about a house, maybe a hound and maybe settling down,
In my hometown.
